1,800 Sleeping Bags for Homelessness!

Winter is (thankfully) over and National Homeless Collective's annual 'Sleeping Bags for Homelessness' campaign is winding down. For the last four years, and with the help of many supporters, we have independently fundraised and delivered brand new sleeping bags to people sleeping rough on our streets. Thanks to all those who contributed this year; because of you we raised enough to buy over 1,800 bags! It's still bloody cold, so if you'd like to make a donation you can: sleepingbagsforhomelessness.org.au

Removing barriers to work

It's been 6 months since National Homeless Collective launched its new op shop in East Brunswick. In that time, we've employed 6 women experiencing homelessness, providing over 600 hours of paid work. We're changing employment by removing simple barriers. Our workers are free to start and finish when they like and are paid for those hours worked. They're also provided with topped-up Mykis to get to and from the store. If you're in Melbourne, find us at 50 Lygon Street, Brunswick East! kalaspace.org.au

Harvard University

I am absolutely thrilled to have been accepted into Harvard University's Public Narrative course under the legendary organiser Professor Marshall Ganz! The program strengthens people's capacity to lead by teaching how to tell a story of self that enables others to "get you"; a story of us that enables your community to "get each other"; and a story of now that turns the present moment into one of challenge, hope, and action.
